Forbes Asia’s Power Businesswomen 2022 : Forbes on Tuesday presented its Asia’s Power Businesswomen list for 2022. It honored 20 outstanding women in business in the Asia-Pacific region. Three Indian women are also included in this female boss list. The 20 women inducted are new to the list and are expanding the network of Forbes Asia’s women trailblazers in the region.

Ghazal Alagh is the first Indian woman on the list. Gazal is the co-founder and chief innovation officer of Honsa Consumer, the parent company of Mamaearth. She started the Gurgaon based company in 2016 with her husband Varun, who is the CEO of this company. In January of this year, Alagh’s company became a unicorn. A unicorn company is one that has a market value of more than $1 billion.

Soma Mandal
Another name in this list is Indian woman businessman Soma Mandal, who is the chairperson of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). SAIL is a government company, with Soma Mandal being the first woman to head it. Forbes said that since taking over as SAIL chairman in 2021, his annual income for the year ended March 31, 2022 has increased by 50 percent.

Namita Thapar
Namita Thapar, executive director of Emcure Pharma’s India business, is the third Indian to feature in Forbes Asia’s Power Businesswomen 2022 list. Thapar, who also served as a judge on Shark Tank India, oversees the India business of the Rs 61 billion Pune-based company that was founded forty years ago by her father, Satish Mehta. Emcure’s domestic icon doubled to Rs 25 billion in 2021 after Thapar took over the company’s India business five years ago. He focused on using data analytics to build the brand as well as increase the productivity of the field staff.
