SEPANG: The number of flood victims in this district who are still sheltering in temporary evacuation centers (PPS) has not changed much compared to yesterday.
Sepang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof when contacted said that as of 8pm last night, a total of 714 flood victims involving 182 families were still in PPS.
He said, they were placed in six PPS, each at Taman Gemilang Public Hall, Taman Semarang MPKK Hall and Pekan Dengkil Community Hall.
“Other PPS include at Dengkil High School (SMK), Dato’ Ahmad Razali Dengkil Religious Junior School and Labu Lanjut School,” he said.
He said, compared to yesterday, the number of victims who were evacuated was 885 people each in eight PPS yesterday, but that number reached 1,020 people last night.
Wan Kamarul Azran said that his party was still monitoring seven flood locations in Kampung Ampar Tenang, Kampung Sri Tanjung, Kampung Semarang, Kampung Sungai Buah, Kampung Cemperai, Taman Salak Budi and Taman Indah Puteri.
“The most flood victims were accommodated at SMK Dengkil with 308 people involving 80 families,” he said.
It is understood that some villages are still flooded and residents are not allowed to return home because the situation is still dangerous.
The heavy rain that started last Wednesday night caused several locations in this district to be flooded and even caused some tires to burst. – MESSENGER
