SEPANG: More than 885 flood victims from 226 families were moved to eight temporary evacuation centers (PPS) around the district as of 8pm last night.
The matter was confirmed by Sepang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof who informed that the victims were from Kampung Ampar Tenang, Kampung Sri Tanjung, Kampung Semarang, Kampung Sungai Buah and Kampung Cemperai.
He said, a total of eight PPSs were opened at Taman Gemilang Community Hall, Taman Semarang MPKK Hall, Sungai Buah Hall and Pekan Dengkil Community Hall.
“Other PPS include Kampung Bukit Tampoi City Hall, Batu 28 Jenderam Hilir City Hall, Dengkil High School and Dato’ Ahmad Razali Dengkil Religious Primary School.
“The most victims took refuge in SMK Dengkil with 397 victims involving 109 families,” he said in a statement today.
He said, his party is still monitoring the flood situation in five villages regarding the slow receding and dangerous water.
Several low-lying locations and areas, especially in Dengkil, were hit by flash floods following heavy rain since last night.
In addition, several tires also burst, causing river water and water lines to overflow before entering residents’ homes.
Meanwhile, the Sepang Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) informed that the cause of the flood in Dengkil was due to prolonged heavy rains which caused the river water level to rise. – MESSENGER
