PETALING JAYA: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) expressed an agreement to work together to form a government of the Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
The matter was announced by GPS Chairman who is also the Premier of Sarawak, Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg this afternoon.
In the morning he had a meeting with the PN Chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Abang Johari said that the decision was aimed at strengthening and stabilizing the country and the well-being of the people.
Citing the Bernama report, he said GPS chose Muhyiddin as its prime minister candidate.
This statement followed a few hours after Muhyiddin and PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang reportedly met Abang Johari to discuss the formation of the federal government after the 15th general election which saw no coalition having a simple majority.
Pakatan Harapan together with Muda won 82 parliamentary seats, followed by PN (73), BN (30), GPS (22), GRS (6), Warisan (3), Parti Bangsa Malaysia (1) and two independent candidates. – MESSENGER
