JELEBU: Member of the UMNO Supreme Working Council, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias proposed a unity government (unity government) formed without Pakatan Harapan (PH) to lead the government.
He who won the 15th General Election (GE15) for the Jelebu Parliament also said that the government that will be formed later needs to be led by the Chairman of Perikatan Nasional (PN), Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister.
He explained that the stance takes into account that no single party has an easy majority to form a new government, however, the well-being of the people and the progress of this country must continue by being led by a stable and experienced government.
“The main basis of the rejection of PH is the failure of the national administration and the collapse of the country during the 22 months they ruled in the last GE14.
“This matter should be a ‘collective responsibility’ among members of the Barisan Nasional (BN), PN, Parti Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Independents.
“Openly, I took a big-hearted and mature attitude in the political collective to propose Tan Sri Muhyiddin as Prime Minister on the basis that PN has the second highest number of seats in the Dewan Rakyat after PH,” he said in a statement.
The UMNO Head of Jelebu Division explained that the proposal is based on the principle of ensuring that the people and the country continue to be in a stable and prosperous state as BN strives for.
In the meantime, Jalaluddin said, the result of GE15 which saw BN only able to win in 30 parliamentary constituencies should be accepted maturely. – MESSENGER
