KAJANG: The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced November 28 as an event holiday in conjunction with the 15th General Election (GE15).
He said that the granting of leave was in line with the promise he had made.
“I am grateful that today the situation and confidence of investors has changed, the ringgit is strong, the stock market is fresher. That’s why I decided that tomorrow will not be a public holiday but will be replaced by Monday (November 28).
“I discussed it with the Chief Secretary of the State and His Majesty (Yang di-Pertuan Agong) because I had already promised to give leave on Monday and today has been fixed. I will keep my promise but it will be moved to Monday next week,” he said in his first press conference after being appointed as the 10th Prime Minister at the Sungai Long Golf & Country Club here today.
The question of the event’s holiday was again raised by the public on social media following Anwar’s appointment.
The average is still waiting for the answer and announcement about the public holiday.
Previously, former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob hinted at giving a holiday on November 21 if Barisan Nasional (BN) won big and formed a government in GE15. – MESSENGER
