No BN member supports Muhyiddin as PM

PETALING JAYA: No member of Barisan Nasional (BN) Parliament has given support to Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister.

BN Secretary General, Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd. Kadir said the decision was made after a BN Supreme Council meeting yesterday.

“No BN Member of Parliament has given support to Muhyiddin’s nomination as the 10th Prime Minister.

“Information on this matter has been made to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Zambry said that the BN Supreme Council also took an open stance to discuss with the relevant parties, to ensure that a government can be formed in the interests of the country and the well-being of the people.

“Regarding that, BN asks all relevant parties to remain calm when dealing with the country’s political situation. With the stance and the results achieved, BN’s position will remain as it is now,” he said.

Since the GE15 last Saturday, no coalition has had a simple majority. BN obtained 30 parliamentary seats, Pakatan Harapan (PH) 82, while PN had 73 seats. – MESSENGER
