KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Noh Omar today resigned as Chairman of the Selangor UMNO Liaison Board.
Explaining the matter, Noh said it was because he had lost faith in the party president, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the leader also lost faith in Noh.
At the same time, Noh also urged Ahmad Zahid to resign as UMNO President.
“I want to announce that I am the Chairman of the State UMNO Liaison Body (Selangor). As Chairman, I was appointed by the President, but I saw in GE15 (15th General Election), the President had lost his trust in me, I was not even called to discuss, dropped as a candidate, I was not disheartened to be dropped, but the way I was dropped like the President doesn’t appreciate what I’ve done all this time.
“Not only does the President not trust me, I have lost trust in the President,” he said when met by the media at Menara Dato’ Onn after attending the UMNO Political Bureau meeting.
Noh insists, Ahmad Zahid needs to emulate the actions of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who resigned after BN’s defeat in GE14.
“Let the new person manage this UMNO, as the party president, he won only 300 more than the majority vote. I said in the Political Bureau meeting, if you have a big heart, resign,” he said.
Noh, however, said that he still holds his position as a member of the UMNO Supreme Working Council and will attend meetings as usual. – MESSENGER
