The Dutch court ruled that MH17 was shot down by a BUK missile

AMSTERDAM: A panel of Dutch court judges ruled that Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down using a BUK missile launched from an area near an agricultural field in Pervomaisk in eastern Ukraine.

Pervomaisk is an area controlled by pro-Russian separatist groups.

The court also determined that the crash was not an international armed conflict in Ukraine.

The decision was read by the chief judge, Hendrik Steenhuis.

On 17 July 2014, flight MH17 crashed on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, carrying a total of 298 passengers.

Based on an eight-year investigation and trial, the plane is believed to have been shot down by a BUK missile while flying in the Donetsk region.

The crash that occurred killed all the passengers including the flight crew with most of the victims being Dutch nationals. – Reuters
