PETALING JAYA: A girl is believed to have died as a result of being abused by her stepfather at their home near here, yesterday.
The 11-year-old victim was taken to Serdang Hospital at 11.33 last night after losing consciousness.
Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd. Zaid Hassan said, the victim is believed to have died after sustaining head injuries from being hit by a blunt object, as well as a ruptured intestine.
According to him, the victim who boarded the ambulance was confirmed dead on the way to the hospital.
“The results of the examination revealed bruises on the back, chest and arms of the victim,” he said in a statement here today.
He said, acting on information, the Serious Crime Division (D9) of the Kajang District Police Headquarters (IPD) arrested the 53-year-old stepfather of the victim at 2.25 this afternoon.
He said the suspect was arrested at Serdang Hospital.
“Further investigation found that the suspect admitted to beating the victim before, including using a bucket in the toilet as a result of being angry with the victim who often caused problems at home when his wife was not at home.
“The case is being investigated according to Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder which provides for the mandatory death penalty and hanging to death if convicted,” he said.
