PONTIAN: The remains of a married couple who were involved in an accident in Kota Tinggi after voting, were yesterday buried in a single grave at the Family Cemetery in Kampung Parit Lancang, Ayer Baloi, near here, yesterday.

The victim’s younger brother, Saidatul Masitah Mohamad Shahridin, 30, said the remains of his sister, Saidatul Khadijah, 31, and Muhammad Izwan Mansor, 37, arrived at Kampung Parit Sulaiman Darat from Kota Tinggi Hospital (HKT) at about 9.30pm before being taken to the ground. the cemetery.

He said that before the accident, he and the victim and three other siblings voted in conjunction with the 15th General Election (GE15) at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Lok Heng, before the deceased and her husband went to Taman Scientex, Pasir Gudang.

“We siblings arrived at the family home in Felda Lok Heng Palm Oil Factory Quarters on Friday evening to vote as we grew up here since birth.

“Father came from Kampung Parit Sulaiman Darat before meeting his soulmate with mother, a teacher and living in the factory quarters until now.” he said yesterday.

The couple Saidatul Khadijah and Muhammad Izwan left a two-year-old daughter, Aulia Izzatunniza, who suffered a broken right leg and bleeding in the head in the accident and was scheduled to undergo surgery yesterday.

The husband and wife were reported to have died at the scene after the Perodua Alza they were riding in was involved in an accident with a Toyota Hilux at Kilometer 46, Jalan Johor Bahru-Mersing.

Muhammad Izwan is a lecturer at Yayasan Pelajaran Johor (YPJ) while Saidatul Khadijah is a lecturer at Kolej Tinggi Vocational College (KV).

Meanwhile, Saidatul Khadijah’s younger brother, Mohamad Hassan, who was in a separate vehicle heading to Kota Tinggi, did not expect his sister and brother-in-law to be involved in the accident.

“I was surprised when I approached the scene of the incident and saw the registration number of the deceased’s vehicle and heard Aulia’s voice, so I picked it up and supported it.

“My brother-in-law is on his way to vote in Pasir Gudang after all of us siblings, including my late sister, have finished voting in SK Lok Heng,” he said, who works as a teacher at SK Kampung Peta, Mersing. – MESSENGER
