PETALING JAYA: The number of voters who went out to vote in the 15th General Election (GE15) exceeded the total number of voters in GE14.
The Election Commission (SPR) informed that a total of 65 percent turnout was recorded as of 3pm, equivalent to 13.7 million out of 21 million registered voters.
The number surpassed the 12.251 million voters who went to the polls in GE14, which accounted for about 82 percent of the total registered voters.
This is despite the Padang Serai parliamentary seat being postponed following the death of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate, M. Karupaiya and the postponement of the Tioman State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat after the National Alliance (PN) candidate, Md. Yunus Ramli died early this morning.
All polling centers are scheduled to close in stages between 12 noon and 6 pm, except in Sabah and Sarawak which will be closed between 11 am and 5.30 pm.- MESSENGER
