KUALA SELANGOR: A total of 111 victims were moved to a temporary evacuation center (PPS) after their homes were hit by floods due to two burst tires around Tanjong Karang here today.
The two locations involved the area around Kampung Baru Lembah Pantai and Kampung Ban RB, Sungai Sireh.
All the victims consisted of 38 families including the elderly, children and babies.
Selangor Fire Director, Norazam Khamis said, his party rushed to the first location in Kampung Lembah Pantai after receiving an emergency call at 4.47am.
“Inspection found that the area of houses occupied by 92 residents in the area was flooded with water reaching 0.5 meters.
“The flood occurred following a burst tire in a nearby location and heavy rain continued since 2 this morning,” he said when contacted today.
He explained that the incident of burst tires was also reported to have happened in Kampung Ban RB at 7.30 this morning.
“The area of the house of the 19 victims was flooded with water 0.2 meters deep and was in a static state.
“Currently the water level has started to show a decrease, but further monitoring is still being done,” he said.
Norazam added that all the victims were placed in two PPS, namely the Multipurpose Hall of Kampung Baru Lembah Pantai and the National School (SK) Sungai Sireh.
Therefore, he advised all residents to comply with evacuation instructions from the authorities to avoid unwanted incidents. – MESSENGER
