[VIDEO] NGOs submitted a memorandum requesting the appointment of the PM to obtain the votes of the Malay majority

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of Malay and Muslim non-governmental organizations (NGOs) gathered peacefully near the Istana Negara, today.

The group, which consists of 30 individuals claiming to represent more than 50 Malay and Muslim NGOs, came carrying a banner with the words ‘Daulat Tuanku! Please listen to the groans of the Ummah’, while chanting the takbir several times.

The group’s spokesperson, Mohd. Ashraf Mustaqim Badrul Munir said. they were present to send a memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah regarding the current government formation crisis.

Among other things, the memorandum sought His Majesty’s approval to appoint the Prime Minister from the political coalition that received the most Malay votes in the 15th General Election (GE15), thereby resolving the issue.

“The result of GE15 is a manifestation of the desire of bumiputera Malays to uphold a clean and stable Malay leadership, thus switching to a coalition that carries that aspiration.

“We hope that Your Majesty will not allow the voice of Muslim Malay and Bumiputera leaders to become a minority under Your Majesty’s government,” he said.

Said Mohd Ashraf Mustaqim, the government should have been formed and this formation should be expedited in accordance with the Federal Constitution due to the wisdom of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“It is due to the long time taken that it can affect the stability of the socio-economic factors of the community,” he explained.

He said, his party could not submit the memorandum to the Istana Negara for the time being.

“The National Palace did not accept this memorandum because it wanted to focus on the issue of government formation,” he said. – MESSENGER
