KUANTAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) is expected to finalize the party’s collaboration with Pakatan Harapan (PH) to form the state government after no party obtained a simple majority in the 15th General Election (GE15), last Saturday.
It is understood that Pahang BN is expected to vote for PH, thus refusing to cooperate with Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the state.
Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail is expected to continue introducing the position of Menteri Besar and also get the support of PH.
Sources informed, so far Wan Rosdy is expected to remain as Menteri Besar if BN and PH form a partnership.
“However, it depends on the approval of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah,” said the source.
In GE15, BN won 16 seats in the state assembly (DUN), PH eight seats and PN (17 seats).
After the results of GE15 last Saturday, the Pahang government was ‘suspended’ because none of the party coalitions obtained a simple majority to form the government.
Meanwhile, DAP Pahang Chairman, Leong Ngah Ngah said, discussions have been held by DAP Pahang but negotiations with the state BN will be conducted by Pahang PH Chairman, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
“From our point of view (DAP Pahang) it is okay. We will give them (BN) time to solve their problems first,” he said.
He said PH Pahang had also made a decision to support Wan Rosdy to continue leading the state government as Menteri Besar.
“We have decided to support the Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, but whatever it is will be decided by the palace and we respect the palace’s decision. We hope the central government will cooperate (PH and BN), at the state level as well, the best example in Perak,” he said. – MESSENGER
